un morceau de chocolat

http://thehomebaker.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/img_1789.jpg

My thoughts have been reduced to coffee and croissants this morning. Neither of which I will allow to touch my lips. Primarily because I don't have access to a good bakery around here...and really, why waste the calories if it ain't gonna be that good? However, at this moment, I can really think of nothing nicer than biting into chocolaty goodness surrounded by layers of buttery, flaky pastry.

It has been about a week since I have decided to escape coffee's caffinated chains in the hopes of reaching some sort of clarity with my body. Extending that olive branch hasn't been easy...especially in the mornings, but those episodes of afternoon, caffiene induced hypoglycemia have kept me strong in my comittment.

In other news, days when I lack culinary inspiration...I turn to this blog, which is one of my favorites:

to-do-list

(image from http://www.bricolageandbutter.com/)

as of late, i have much that needs accomplishing. you know what they always say...write it down or you won't do it. much-ado-about nothing i say...but heck, i'll give it a try.

1. kill the fruit fly that keeps swarming around my office & all the lovely fruit i bring from home.

2. can't keep track of each fallen robin....a.k.a. birds has finally lost a place in my heart. fortune has smiled upon me once or twice there....but it's time to part ways with the barbershop in search of a new, yet highly affordable hair palace that won't butcher my hair & force me to cut my own bangs in attempts to "fix" them.

3. clean out my closet. not much more to say about that. don't expect this to be very fun.

4. stop pulling muscles during my workouts. can this really be avoided? unlikely due to my clumsiness. i mean, i can't even slice an apple without breaking flesh...let alone lift weights correctly.

5. think of some other tidbits to add to this list. seems to be shorter than i remember it. maybe that's why writing it down helps. allows you to visualize & simplify your mess on paper...or in this case the screen.

check out these shoes. tres cool.

moon-room

Feeling the end of summer approaching. That 10 degree drop in temperature may not be much, but it offers some nocturnal relief. Sitting out in my sun-room at night offers much inspiration. Maybe I should change the name considering the fact that sitting out there during the day offers nothing but heat, sweat and a general form of lethargy.

One thing I have discovered as of late, is that I want to offer more simplicity to the world around me. Simple living. Sustainability. Less equals more?

langue source

Thoughts I have everyday....could not be expressed in a better way.

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to."

love love & wise words

Two blogs in one week! I am really pushing the envelope here.

Found this. Love it. Had to share it.

Enjoy!

"There are so many more good times we can have. Let's look forward to it, and not destroy our future, by holding on to our fear and confusion. That's old hat now.
Power to us people. Let's stay well and have lots of fun. Let's keep dancing together. I love you!"

old habits

die hard...again. i know my brain has got it...but i have been neglectful of myself. i have let writing radio spots & blogs for others gnaw away at my abilities. what medium do i need to immerse myself in so that i feel that hot spark? flint. twigs. tinder. those would all come in handy.

in other ways of the world, i am quite content.

Small Talk

no tension
or
control
ease
some people do not listen
shared opinions and values that people so want to acquire
a continuity, a place, a slight pause--refreshing
i propose a toast to a stop to meandering

To Stroll

A pair of shoes. Perfect. If only the heels could be downsized. Heels make me feel generic, unimportant...although people may beg to differ. Arguably, authority and femininity may envelope the wearer into a false sense of self. I still like the shoes, just not the baggage society has decided to incorporate into it.

People must walk to experience.

Habit

Words aren't easy today. Pausing might be a good thing. Things could be easier by not over thinking. Everything has a right place. No explanation should be required. It just is.
